Australia is uniquely placed as a test bed for the future of global transport. We have a huge amount of space, the technical expertise and importantly, we don’t have the complexities in getting multiple jurisdictions to agree on an outcome that Europe and the US face.

Since Melbourne hosted the World ITS Congress in 2016, the local industry has been driving activity that will help us realise this future of autonomous vehicles that we hear so much about.

That reality, on our public roads at least, is some way off and in the interim there’s much work to be done in developing infrastructure to support intelligent connected vehicles and roads.

In this event, our panel will be sharing where on the map of our future of transport journey we’re at including:

  • Update on pilot programs currently being trialled in Victoria including AIMES
  • Outlining the infrastructure and solutions needed and programs supporting their development
  • The role of 5G and connectivity solutions for between vehicles (V2V), infrastructure (V2I) and everything (V2X)
  • The latest in vehicle autonomy
